Joe Biden Bunker

Joe Biden is believed to have had his biggest gaffe yet while attending the Gridiron Club dinner in Washington D.C. in President Obama's place. During the dinner Biden told some of his dinner mates details of a secret bunker under the home of the vice-president. Believed to be classified information, this is considered to be the location where Dick Cheney hid out after the terrorist attacks on 9-11.Fox News: Biden Reveals Location of Secret... Bunker Background

The original Naval Observatory in Washington D.C. was built in 1893. The former Naval Observatory has been used by vice-presidents for decades as their home during their tenure in office. Given this fact, it would not be surprising to find a bunker of some sort associated with the building complex. However, in the months following the events surrounding the 9/11 terrorist attacks, additional bunker construction seems to have taken place. In December of 2002 neighbors surrounding the vice-presidential estate complained of loud construction taking place. The official response was that it was of a sensitive and classified nature.BBC News: Cheney's neighbours stoke bunker rumours (December 9, 2002)
