Jimmy Rollins is a Major League Baseball shortstop for the Philadelphia Phillies. He was born on November 27, 1978 in Oakland, California and attended Encinal High School. Upon graduating from high school, Rollins was drafted by the Phillies in the second round of the 1996 amateur draft. Jimmy Rollins 2010 Season
Jimmy Rollins started the 2010 season as the starting shortstop and lead off hitter for the Philadelphia Phillies. Jimmy Rollins made his MLB debut with the Philadelphia Phillies on September 17, 2000. He played in 14 games, had a .321 batting average and 3 stolen bases. In his first full season in 2001, Rollins was an All-Star. He became the first National League player since Lou Brock in 1968 to lead the league in stolen bases and triples. Rollins finished the season with a .274 average, 29 doubles, 12 triples, 14 home runs and 46 stolen bases. Jimmy Rollins lead the league in triples in 2004 and had another quadruple double. He was an All-Star in 2005 when he had his fourth career triple double. He finished the season with a .290 batting average, 38 doubles, 11 triples, 12 home runs and 46 stolen bases. Rollins started displaying more power in 2006 when he hit a then career high 25 home runs. In 2007, the Phillies made the playoffs for the first time since 1993 and Rollins won the league MVP. He finished the season with a .290 average, a career high 30 home runs, 38 doubles, 20 triples, 94 runs batted in and 41 stolen bases. Rollins also won the first of his three consecutive Gold Glove Awards for defensive excellence at shortstop. In 2008, he helped lead the Phillies to a World Series victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.
