Jimmy Rollins is an All-Star shortstop for the Philadelphia Phillies. He is widely regarded as one of the best shortstops in baseball and a legitimate five-tool player. Early Life
James Calvin Rollins was born in Oakland, California on November 27, 1978. He would attend Encinal High School in California. He would develop into a elite high school prospect and would garner the attention of Major League Baseball scouts.MLB.com: Jimmy Rollins BioPro Career
Rollins would be selected in the 2nd round of the 1996 Major League Baseball Draft. He would make his major league debut on September 17, 2000. In his brief stay in his first trip to the majors he would establish himself as an everyday player. In his first full season in 2001, Rollins would hit 14 home runs and steal 46 bases. He would also make the National League All-Star Team . At the end of his rookie season he would finish third in the National League Rookie of the Year voting . In 2005, he would finish the season with a 36 game hitting streak which would carry over to the next season where he would finish with 38 straight games with getting a hit. In 2007, Rollins would lead the Phillies to the post season and the National League East Division Championship.
