  • Major League Baseball pitcher Jimmy Gobble currently plays with the Kansas City Royals.

    Prior to his MLB career Gobble was offered a scholarship to the University of Kentucky, but instead entered the draft. Gobble was drafted in the first round of the MLB Draft on June 2, 1999 by the Kansas City Royals. He was immediately placed with the Royals' minor league affiliates for his first few years of conditioning.

    Gobble was called up to make his MLB debut on August 3, 2003 for the Royals. He started a total of nine games his rookie season, pitching for 52 innings and finishing the season with a 4.61 ERA. He continued to split his time between the Royals and their affiliates over the next few seasons. In 2007, he played a career high 74 games, including their opening day game, ending the season with a 3.02 ERA.
