• Singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett has a unique, tropically flavored, country-folk style of music sometimes called "island escapism" or "Gulf and Western." One of his biggest hits is "Margaritaville" (1977.) In addition to his successful music career, Buffett is a bestselling authorand businessman. He also owns a restaurant chain, Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, and co-developed Cheeseburger in Paradise chain along with the Outback Steakhouse Co. His merchandising, endoresments, side businesses and concerts earned Buffett nearly $60 million in 2006 according to Rolling Stone and Forbes magazines.
