Vivid Entertainment, a maker of pornographic movies, is set to release a sex tape claiming it is of Jimi Hendrix having sex with two women. In the 45-minute tape a face resembling that of Hendrix appears for a few seconds. Only 11 minutes of the tape is sex footage, the other time is spent on a retrospective of Hendrix’s career.
The identity of the man in the tape is disputed by Hendrix experts, former associates and a former girlfriend, Kathy Etchingham.
Vivid Entertainment's co-chairman Steven Hirsch says he feels the man on the tape is Hendrix after tracking down the man who shot the video and reaching an agreement for his approval of distribution of the tape. Hirsch and his lawyers won't say how the filmmaker was reached and will not put a reporter in touch with him, citing a confidentiality agreement.
