Jim Starlin is an American comic book artist and writer for both Marvel Comics and DC.
Career
Starlin got his start with Marvel Comics in 1972, drawing for the Spider-Man and Iron Man series before writing up the entire Marvel cosmology through his work on Captain Marvel.
Starlin then wrote for the Adam Warlock comics, adding elements of theology which have become his trademark. Following declining interest in Captain Marvel, which he previously helped boost sales for, Starlin wrote The Death of Captain Marvel graphic novel to poetically end the series.
In the 1980s, Starlin penned the popular A Death in the Family storyline for the Batman comics, which used reader participation via 1-900 numbers to decide the fate of Jason Todd, the second Robin.
Starlin continues to write and draw for Marvel, DC and independent companies.
