    Jim Lynam started his collegiate coaching career in 1968 with Fairfield University. During his two seasons as head coach, Lynam compiled a record of 23 wins and 29 losses. He took over a head coach of the American University Eagles in 1973. Lynam won 70 games and lost 61 at American University. Jim Lynam returned to his alma mater in 1978 to coach the Saint Joseph's Hawks.     Jim Lynam started his NBA coaching career in 1983 with the San Diego Clippers. In 1985, Lynam became an assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers. Halfway through the 1987 season, he took over as head coach of the 76ers. His best finish as head coach was the 1989-90 season, winning 53 games and finishing second in the NBA Coach of The Year voting. From 1992 through 1994, Lynam was General Manager of the 76ers. The Washington Bullets hired Jim Lynam as head coach in 1995, where he would coach for two seasons.
