Jim Jarmusch is an American independent film director and screenwriter noted for his stationary camera style. He's directed such well-known films as Dead Man, Coffee and Cigarettes and Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai.
Jarmusch's latest film, The Limits of Control was released in May 2009. Background
Jarmusch graduated in 1975 from Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts in English. With no prior film experience, he was accepted into the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Just before graduation Jarmusch dropped out and chose to funnel his scholarship funds into his first feature film. The film, Permanent Vacation, introduced audiences to Jarmusch's trademark stationary camera style that he would continue to develop in Stranger Than Paradise and Down by Law.
