  • Former professional football linebacker Jim Haslett most recently served as head coach of the St. Louis Rams in the National Football League. He previously served as the head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

    Haslett was named the interim head coach of the Rams on September 29, 2008 after coach Scott Linehan was fired.   • Playing Career

    Haslett was selected 51st overall in the 1979 NFL draft by the Buffalo Bills. He made his professional debut with the Bills that year, playing seven seasons with Buffalo and recording five interceptions, 4.5 sacks and 11 fumble recoveries. After his first season in the NFL, he was selected as the Defensive Rookie of the Year by the Associated Press.   • Coaching Career

    Haslett got his coaching start with the Buffalo Bulls serving as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator from 1988 to 1990. He then spent two seasons as the defensive coordinator for the Sacramento Surge of the World League of American Football, before becoming a linebackers coach with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1993.Official Site of the St. Louis Rams: Jim Haslett

    In 1995 and 1996, Haslett worked with the New Orleans Saints as a linebackers coach and defensive coordinator, then went to the Pittsburgh Steelers as their defensive coordinator. He returned to the Saints in 2000, taking the first head coaching position of his career.
