Jim Aparo

Jim Aparo was an American comic book artist.

Career

Though he worked on The Phantom for Charlton Comics, and later The Brave and the Bold for DC Comics, Jim Aparo will probably be remembered most for his work on the Batman comic books through the 1980s and early 1990s.

He provided the artwork for the "A Death in the Family" storyline, which vividly (and gruesomely) depicted the killing of Jason Todd (the second Robin) at the hands of the The Joker.

One of the few comic book artists to do his own pencils, letters, and inks, Aparo retired in the early 2000s. He died at the age of 72 in 2005.
