Established in 1929, the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) served as a governmental body for the Jewish community prior to the establishment of the nation of Israel. After the establishment of an Israeli state in 1948, the JAFI was commissioned to facilitate the Jewish immigration to Israel. The organization continues to help bring Jews to their homeland, and maintains outreach programs that invest in Jewish communities outside of Israel.
Operation Promise
Operation Promise is a JAFI initiative that is committed to reaching out to generations of Jews around the world. The program focuses on providing assistance to Jewish communities in Ethiopia, and the former Soviet Union.
