Christians believe that Jesus fulfilled the prophecies in Hebrew scripture which foretold the coming of a Messiah who would cleanse the world of sin. Jesus's birth is celebrated as the Christian holiday of Christmas.Parents for Christ: The Story of the Birth of Christ
Teachings
Most of the teachings of Jesus are related in the New Testament as parables which he would tell his disciples in answer to their queries. In the New Testament, Jesus's divinity is revealed by his ability to perform miracles. In various stories, Jesus walks on the surface of the Sea of Galilee, turns water into wine, and raises his friend Lazarus from the dead. His crucifixion at the hands of the Roman authorities and subsequent resurrection are observed in the Christian holidays of Good Friday and Easter, respectively.Fish Eaters: The Parables of Jesus Christ Boston Christian Bible Study Resources: The Gospel of John
