Jesus Christ Superstar is a rock opera by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber that was first released as a double-album in 1970 and opened on October 12, 1971 at Broadway's Mark Hellinger Theater.
Synopsis
Jesus Christ Superstar tells the story of the last seven days in the life of Jesus of Nazareth as seen through the eyes of the conflicted and tragic Judas Iscariot, a disciple who has become disillusioned with Jesus, his rise to popularity as a "king", and claims to divinity.
