Singer Jessica Simpson posted a video of herself 'ear candling' via the social networking website Twitter. She posted, "who gives this kind of candle for a Christmas gift?" on December 20, 2009. The link went to a TwitVid.com video showing Simpson leaning over a table with make-shift 'ear candling' kit made from a Papa Johns pizza box and a lit candle. During the video, her hair stylist Ken Pave teased her and sang "We Wish You a Merry Christmas". Pave joked "do you like my Christmas present or not?" As the video goes on, Pave says, "you look good, the light, the glow, the Christmas tree in the background..." as Simpson squirms and complains.http://www.twitvid.com/95075
What is "ear candling"
Ear candling, sometimes called 'coning', is an alternative way of removing earwax and other debris from the ear canal. It is said to work by creating a 'vacuum' that pulls up the wax from the ear canal. The technique is done by inserting a lit candle through a paper plate, then placing the bottom of the candle over the ear canal. When the wax rises it is then removed with a cotton swab.http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/candling.html

Apparently, her hair stylist Ken Pave helped her make the makeshift ear candling device in order to remove ear wax from her ear. The ear candling set-up was made from a tapered candle and a Papa John's pizza box.
