In December, 2007, John Miner and Jessica Barlow were living in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, with their six-month-old son, Mason D. Miner. On December 10th, authorities allege that Jessica Barlow fed the baby alcohol—as much as a can of beer, a glass of wine or a shot of liquor. She says she gave him acetaminophen.The next day, she found him with blue lips and congested. Analysts say that at the time of his death, the boy's blood alcohol content was .205, more than twice the legal limit for adult drivers. That level of alcohol sent the baby into toxic shock, leading to the shutdown of his organs.
