  • Jesse Malin is a New York City-based Singer-Songwriter who started his career in punk bands such as Heart Attack and D Generation. Malin's first band, which he formed at age 16, was Heart Attack, a crude hardcore act whose original vinyl records are now sought after by collectors. His 1990s band D Generation mined the history of New York City punk and glam for its sound, particularly in the vein of the New York Dolls and to a lesser extent, The Ramones. Malin's solo work has departed from punk, sometimes recalling Bruce Springsteen and the later-period Replacements.
  • D Generation

D Generation's strong local following led to major label contracts with Chrysalis and Columbia Records. The band worked with veteran producer Tony Visconti for its final album before splitting up, 1999's Through the Darkness. Visconti is known for producing the pioneering '70s work of T. Rex and David Bowie, both of which were formative in D Generation's glam-punk sound.
  • Solo Work

Malin's solo debut, The Fine Art of Self Destruction was recieved positively by critics, and considered something of a surprise—a thoughtful singer-songwriter album from a musician known for brash punk rock. Uncut magazine called the album, "one of those amazing records that appear seemingly out of nowhere... that within a couple of plays sound already like something you've been listening to for years."
