Activist Jesse Macbeth falsely claimed to be an Army Ranger and an Iraq War veteran as part of a series of anti-war videos and writings in 2006. In September of 2007, he was sentenced to five months in jail for making false statements to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Macbeth appeared in a 20-minute anti-war video, which circulated on the internet, where he falsely elaborated on his exploits in Iraq.
