On April 6, 2009, news agencies reported that Jerry Sloan was named to the Basketball Hall of Fame, he joins fellow coach C. Vivian Stringer of the Rutger's Women's Basketball team. Sloan also joins players Michael Jordan, David Robinson and John Stockton. Jerry Sloan (2009 - 2010 Season)
Jerry Sloan was the head coach for the Utah Jazz during the 2009-2010 season. Jerry Sloan led the Utah Jazz to another 50 plus win season good enough for the fifth best record in the Western Conference. Despite missing two key starters in Andre Kirilenko and Mehmet Okur, Sloan was able to guide the undermanned Jazz pass the favorite Denver Nuggets in six games. Unfortunately for Sloan, his team would be no match for the Los Angeles Lakers in the next round of the playoffs as the Lakers would sweep away Utah in four games.
NBA Career
Jerry Sloan was drafted by the Baltimore Bullets in 1965. He played for the Bullets for one season before signing with the Chicago Bulls in 1966. Coaching Career
Jerry Sloan was an assistant coach for the Chicago Bulls from 1977 to 1979. He took over as head coach of the Bulls in 1979 and compiled a record of 94 wins and 121 losses. He was a scout, and then an assistant coach, for the Utah Jazz until 1988. Sloan took over as head coach of the Jazz on December 9, 1988. On December 11, 2006, the Jazz defeated the Dallas Mavericks. With that victory, Jerry Sloan became the fifth coach in NBA history with 1000 wins. On January 7, 2007, he passed Larry Brown for fourth place in career wins with 1010.NBA.com: Jerry Sloan

Hand-In-Hand Foundation
Jerry Sloan and his family founded the Hand-In-Hand charitable foundation in 2005 after his wife, Bobbye, a breast cancer survivor, died of pancreatic cancer in 2004.
