  • Jerry Buss is the owner of the Los Angeles Lakers. Under his ownership the Lakers have won 8 NBA Championships.

    Gerald Hatten Buss was born in 1934. He was raised in Kemmerer, Wyoming. He attended the University of Wyoming where he graduated with a Bachelor in Science. He attended the University of Southern California where he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in physicial chemistry. He invested in Real Estate which brought him financial success.   • Lakers Ownership

    Buss purchased the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Kings in 1979 from Jack Kent Cooke for 67.5 Million dollars. Buss then sold the Kings in 1987. Under his ownership the Lakers would win eight championships and would see players Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Shaquille O'Neal play for his club.
