Football Career
Prior to playing in the NFL, Phillips played college football with the Georgia Bulldogs. He started in 19 games, recording 181 tackles and five interceptions. Phillips made his NFL debut in 2002 with the Buccaneers, playing in all 16 games and recording eight tackles. He continued with Tampa Bay in the years since, missing time in 2004 after fracturing his right arm. Phillips earned a starting spot in 2005, playing in 13 that season and 16 games in 2006.
