Tyler was initially recruited by the Louisville Cardinals and head coach Rick Pitino and signed a letter of intent to play for the school on October 12, 2008. He later changed his mind, deciding to skip his senior season in high school and college completely to play professionally in Europe, possibly in Spain starting in the 2009-2010 season. Tyler is the first person to leave high school early to play professionally overseas and could make in excess of $1 million his first season. He will also be eligible for the 2011 NBA draft, in which he could likely be the first-overall selection. The New York Times: Basketball Prospect Leaving High School to Play in Europe
