Jeremy Guthrie

  • Jeremy Guthrie is a right-handed pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles. After attending Ashland High School in Ashland, Or, Guthrie went on to attend Brigham Young University befor transferring to Stanford University, where Guthrie played baseball as a starting pitcher. A practicing mormon, upon leaving Stanford Guthrie went on a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Guthrie was drafted three times before signing a professional contract. In [[1997] by the New York Mets in the 15th round, in 2001 by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 3rd round, and Guthrie finally joined a major league organization after being drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 1st round of the 2002 draft. After four years and a .500 record in the minors, the Indians released Guthrie. In 2007 the Orioles selected Guthrie off waivers.

    Guthrie has a nice fasball, which he compliments with an effective change-up and slider[1].
