2010 Season
Jeremy was in a 3 way battle for the fourth and fifth spots in the Tiger stating rotation. He claimed the fifth spot after Nate Robertson was traded to the Florida Marlins. When the Tigers headed north out of Spring Training, it marked a big moment for Bonderman who has been working hard to get back from major chest and shoulder surgery.
Manager Jim Leyland plans to be patient in the early going until he can see if Bondo makes the adjustment from Power to Finesse pitcher. After his first three starts it appears as though he has lost six or seven miles off his fastball.
After two starts he is giving up a run an inning, primarily because of a terrible second start in which he allowed 8 earned runs.
June 03, 2010 - Jeremy has improved dramatically since the beginning of the season. Although he had a rough outing in his last start against the Kansas City Royals, giving up 7 runs in 6 2/3 innings his overall stats are respectable. His ha a 4.40 ERA nad has won 2 against 4 losses, averaging nearly a strikeout an inning.
2009 Season
It was a tough year for Jeremy who struggled through multiple rehabilitation assignments in the minor leagues. When called up to the parent club, things got worse for him before the parent club temporarily shut him down.
After undergoing Thoracic Outlet Compression Syndrome surgery, Bonderman looked forward to a lengthy recovery. The surgery had involved taking care of a blood cot in his right arm and then removing the cause, which in this case was his first rib.
He started his rehab assignment with the Tigers Single A affiliate, the Michigan Whitecaps. He earned the victory in his first start against Great Lakes. He was then transferred to Triple A Toledo where in three starts he went 1 - 1 with a 3.15 ERA. On June 8th he made his first start for the parent club at Celllular field against the Chicago White Sox. He allowed 6 runs in 4 innings and was placed back on the disabled list. He returned to Toledo for a second rehab stint and eventually rejoined the Tigers, making 7 appearances in relief as the season came to a close.
