Jenny Sanford is the wife of South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford. The governor disappeared to Argentina for five days, then came home and publicly admitted in a press conference to having an affair.
She released a statement concerning the affair soon after her husband issued a press conference on June 24, 2009. The statement said that the couple had agreed on a trial separation only two weeks before the affair was revealed. Jenny Sanford had learned of the affair after discovering a letter written to her husband by his Argentinian mistress, Maria Belen Shapur.
