Former Orangefield, Texas junior high teacher and coach Jennifer Lea Burton was indicted on three charges of sexual assault and three charges of improper relationship between educator and student in April 2009 after allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female student from September to November 2008.
The 39-year-old educator has since resigned from her position at Orangeville Junior High. Burton turned herself into police and was released after posting bail. Both charges offer a possible punishment of up to two years probation, 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine for each count.
