Chicago-area high school teacher Jennifer Espinosa was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a 16-year-old former student. Arrest
Espinosa was arrested on May 23, 2009, after police were patrolling the Golf Terrace Apartments for gang and drug activity. Officers smelled marijuana while driving behind Espinosa's 2009 Honda Pilot and stopped her for questioning. A bag of marijuana was found in the car, along with the 16-year-old boy and 22-year-old known gang member Alejandro Landi. Espinosa told police that she was a teacher at Maine East high School and later admitted to the sexual relationship with the 16-year-old boy.Chicago Tribune: ... She claims that the relationship began after the boy was expelled from the school in September of 2008. Espinosa went on to say that she "loves" the boy and that they had sex in her home, car and at Maine East High School.
