    Jennifer Aniston was born in Sherman Oaks, California, on February 11, 1969. She is the daughter of Greek-American actor John Aniston and New York City-born Nancy Dow. Aniston spent a year in Greece with her family and later relocated to New York City. She graduated from the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.

    Aniston began acting in off-Broadway productions including For Dear Life and Dancing on Checker's Grave. She supported herself as a telemarketer and a bike messenger.

    In 1990, Aniston appeared in the starring role on the short lived television series Molloy. She went on to appear in the television movie Camp Cucamonga. She also appeared in The Edge and Muddling Through and guest-starred on Quantum Leap, Herman's Head and Burke's Law.

    In 1994, Aniston was chosen by the producers of a new sitcom, Friends, to play the role of Monica Geller. She persuaded the producers to let her play the part of Rachel Green instead. Aniston continued to star in the series for all 10 seasons. For the final two seasons of the show, she received $1 million per episode.
