Jelena Jankovic

Jelena Jankovic is a professional tennis player who is ranked sixth in the world for singles play. In 2006, she received the "Most Improved Player Award" and was named UNICEF National Ambassador to Serbia in 2007.

At nine years old, Jelena Jankovic started playing tennis. A year later she entered local tournaments, playing the National Yugoslavian Championship and reaching the semi-finals. By eleven, she won the Limon Bowl Tournament in Italy. Soon after, Jankovic left Serbia for the U.S. and attended the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy.
