Canadian professional hockey player Jeff O'Neill played in the National Hockey League from 1995 to 2007.
NHL Career
O'Neill was drafted fifth overall in the 1994 NHL Draft by the Hartford Whalers. He played one additional season with his junior team, the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League, before joining the Whalers in 1995 for his NHL debut. O'Neill continued with the Whalers as they relocated and became the Carolina Hurricanes in 1997. In 2002, he played with the Hurricanes in the Stanley Cup Finals, where they were defeated by the Detroit Red Wings. O'Neill did not play during the 2004-05 NHL lockout, then was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs on July 30, 2005. He joined the Leafs for 74 games each over the next two seasons, then was released in 2007. Although he did not play during the 2007-08 season, he has not announced his retirement.
