Major League Baseball shortstop Jed Lowrie currently plays professional baseball for the Boston Red Sox.
Lowrie underwent surgery on his wrist on April 21, 2009. He is expected to be able to swing a bat six weeks after the surgery and could return to the lineup in June of July.MLB.com: Lowrie Undergoes Wrist Surgery
Baseball Career
After playing baseball in college at Stanford, Lowrie was selected in the 2005 MLB draft. He plated three seasons in the minors and in 2007, while playing with the Portland Sea Dogs, he was named the team's MVP. Lowrie was called up to make his major league debut in April of 2008 with the Red Sox.
During the ninth inning of game four of the 2008 American League Divisional Series, Lowrie singled into right field, allowing Jason Bay to score the winning run against the Angels.
