Jean Frampton was once a typist before becoming a literary adviser to the James Bond series author Ian Fleming. The Associated Press labels her the "real-life Miss Moneypenny" to Fleming.
On April 11, 2008 a series of letters between Frampton and Fleming was sent to an anonymous private collector for a sum of more then $28,000.
Jean Frampton first began helping Ian Fleming by giving her advice on spelling mistakes and other minor inconsistencies. Over time her advice grew to include guidance on plot and character development. Even though they corresponded back and forth by letter they never met.
One of the novels, Thunderball eventually was turned into a movie starring the actor Sean Connery but before it got to that point Frampton had numerous complaints about the ending of the novel. She felt it left the reader with too many unanswered questions.
