  • Jay Williams, born Jason Williams, was a professional basketball player. Following a successful career as the starting point guard for the Duke Blue Devils Men's Basketball team where he won the 2002 Naismith Award as the national player of the year, he was selected 2nd overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 2002 NBA Draft. However, following a successful rookie season in the NBA, he was involved in a serious motorcycle accident in June of 2003 where he almost died. He suffered a fractured pelvis and tore 3 knee ligaments in his left knee. He tried to make a comeback with the Austin Toros in the NBA's Developmental League in 2006, but was waived. He currently makes his living as a motivational speaker.
