On April 2, 2009, a Boston NBC affiliate announced that they will air a hour-long 10 p.m. newscast rather than the Jay Leno Show. Though Boston is Leno's hometown, Ed Ansin, the owner the NBC station WHDH, was quoted in Boston Globe as saying, "We don't think the Leno show is going to be effective in primetime. It will be detrimental to our 11 o'clock (newscast). It will be very adverse to our finances."
