Jawad Williams is a forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers and plays in the NBA. Jawad Williams splits backup forward duties with Jamario Moon for the Cavaliers. Often when LeBron James will sit for a rest, Moon or Williams will take James’ place for a few minutes of playing time. It’s not a big role, but it is a spot that the Cavaliers must fill and Williams helps do that. Williams can either put the ball on the floor and go to the basket or stretch an opposing team’s defense to the three point line.
Jawad Williams won’t make very many highlight plays or be known as a household name, but he does have several basketball skills that translate to the NBA game. Being able to find your niche is very important for players that aren’t stars and it seems like Jawad Williams is well on his way to finding his niche in the NBA. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/jawad_williams/bio.html
Jawad Williams 2009-10 Season
Jawad Williams has made an odd trek to get to the NBA. Williams has spent time playing for Rera Kamuy Hokkaido in Japan, Hapoel Galil Elyon in Israel, Alta Gestion Fuenlabrada Madrid in Spain, Anaheim Arsenal in the NBA’s D-League and finally for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA. Williams wasn’t drafted, but rather signed as a free agent by the Cavaliers on April 9th, 2009. Many teams will sign players of similar resumes for a short while, but Williams has made a place for himself on the Cavaliers.
In the ten games that he played for the Cavaliers in 2009, Williams didn’t garner much playing time. That changed in 2010 though as the Cavaliers’ need for bigger wing players grew. Williams averaged nearly fourteen minutes in the 2009-2010 season and actually was given a starting role for six games. Whether or not Jawad Williams’ role with continue with the Cavaliers in unknown, but at the moment, he can claim to be apart of an actual NBA team.http://www.nba.com/playerfile/jawad_williams/career_stats.html http://www.nba.com/playerfile/jawad_williams/bio.html
