  • Javier Amador, a viola player in his high school's chamber orchestra, managed to escape from his Miami-Dade home on February 25, 2009, and call 911 on a cordless phone. His father, Pablo Amador, shot and killed his mother Maria and sisters Pricilla and Rosa, ages 13 and 14, before turning the gun on himself. Javier was in the home at the time, but was able to escape. Also surviving is his 20-year-old sister Beula Beatriz Amador, who was away at college at the time of the murders. Although no motive has been revealed, information posted by Beula Beatriz Amador on her Facebook page indicate there were family problems. Police continued to question Javier Amador on Wednesday and issued him a counselor.Miami Herald: South Dade dad kills wife, 2 daughters and himself... (February 25, 2009)
