Jason Williams is a Canadian professional hockey player, currently playing for the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League.
Jason Williams began his career with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League in 1996. In 2000, Williams signed as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Red Wings. He made his NHL debut the same year, but spent the majority of his time in the American Hockey League with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. He played in Finland during the 2004-05 NHL Lockout with Assat in the SM-Liiga. Williams returned to the Wings after the lockout, playing 80 of 82 regular season games. He also notched his first hat trick with the Red Wings, scoring all three goals in a single period during an October 22, 2005, game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Just a few months, later Williams was traded at the NHL trade deadline. He went to the Chicago Blackhawks on February 26, 2007 as part of a three-team trade. After the 2007-08 season, Williams signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Thrashers.

On August 6, 2009, Williams signed with the Detroit Red Wings for one year.http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=286920 He joined the team for the 2009-10 season, but was soon sidelined for several weeks after breaking his fibula in November.
