According to sources close to ESPN, the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills agreed in principle to a deal sending Peters to the Eagles. The deal was reported on April 17, 2009, and would give the Bills first- and fourth-round draft picks in the 2009 NFL draft, as well as an undisclosed pick in 2010.ESPN.com: Sources: Eagles Have Deal for Peters
Brief Biography
Growing up in Queen City, Texas, Jason Peters was a high school standout at defensive end. He went on to play football at the University of Arkansas in 2000. As a senior he entered into the NFL draft, however, went undrafted. He was signed by the Buffalo Bills and was put on the teams practice squad. In 2006, Peters won a starting on the offensive line and signed a five-year deal with the Bills. In 2007, Peters was a first time Pro Bowl selection.
The Bills reportedly opened contract talks with Peters during the 2009 off-season in an attempt to renegotiate a contract before the team's minicamp in June. Peters is set to receive $7.2 million over the last two years of his contract, considerably less than others at his position.ESPN.com: Bills Contact LT Peters to Discuss Deal
