Jason Dior Maxiell was born in Chicago, Illinois, on February 18, 1983. He attended Newman Smith High School in Texas. He continued his education at the University of Cincinnati. In his first season, Maxiell appeared in 26 games and averaged 2.3 points and 1.1 rebounds per game. In the 2007-2008 campaign, Maxiell played in 82 games for the Pistons.
