Jason Jennings

Jason Jennings is a right-handed pitcher for the Texas Rangers. Jennings attended Poteet High School in Mesquite TX. After graduating from high school, the Arizona Diamondbacks selected Jennings in the 54th round of the 1996 amateur draft. He declined a contract, however, choosing to play college baseball at Baylor University. At Baylor, Jennings was named the 1999 Collegiate Baseball Player of the Year, the Arizona Diamondbacks selected Jennings in the 1st round of the 1999 amateur draft. Jennings spent time with the Rockies and the Astros, before joining the Rangers before the start of the 2008 season.

• June 4, 1996: Drafted in the 54th round of the 1996 amateur draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks (Declined contract).

• June 2, 1999: Drafted in the 1st round (16th pick) of the 1999 amateur draft by the Colorado Rockies.

• December 12, 2006: Traded with Miguel Asencio to the Houston Astros for Taylor Buchholz, Jason Hirsh, and Willy Taveras.

• [January] 18, 2008: Signed with the Texas Rangers as a free agent.

Jennings has an excellent sinker, which he can throw up to 90+ mph. Jennings can also throw a slider and a change-up[1].

Jennings is not as effective against left-handed hitters. He has also struggled with injuries in the past[1].
