Early Life
Jason Derik Isringhausen was born in Brighton, Illinois on September 7, 1972. He attended college at Lewis and Clark Community College. In 1991, Isringhausen was selected by the New York Mets in the 44th round of the Major League Baseball amateur draft.Baseball-Reference.com: Jason Isringhausen
Pro Career
On July 17, 1995, Isringhausen made his MLB debut with the New York Mets. He spent several productive seasons in the Mets franchise. In 1999, he was traded to the Oakland Athletics. He established himself as the A's Closer in 2000, with 22 saves and a 3.78 earned run average. In 2001, he signed with the St. Louis Cardinals. In 2006, he was part of the World Series championship team. He was the closer during the regular season, but lost his job due to injury in the postseason.
