In March 2009, doctors said Anema may not survive if she does not receive a bone-marrow transplant. A bone-marrow match would likely come from an African-American. Anema has no siblings and is adopted. • Donor Drive

  Several celebrities including Kelly Rowland, Rihanna and the NBA's Chris Wilcox and Paul Pierce are working to help draw attention to Anema's plight and hopefully help to find a donor soon.
