Professional hockey player Jaroslav Spacek is a defenceman who is currently playing for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League. After spending three years with the Buffalo Sabres, Spacek signed a 3-year contract for $11.5 million on July 1, 2009 with the Montreal Canadiens.
Spacek was drafted 117th overall in the 1998 NHL Draft by the Florida Panthers. He made his NHL debut that same year, playing part of the season with the Panthers' American Hockey League affiliate, the Beast of New Haven. On November 6, 2000, Spacek was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks. He played in Chicago for two years before he was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets on March 19, 2002. Spacek returned to the Blackhawks as a free agent in 2005, where he played for one year before he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers on January 26, 2006. He finished the 2005-06 season in Edmonton and signed as a free agent with the Buffalo Sabres on July 5, 2006.

When Andrei Markov went down with a serious injury at the beginning of the season, Jaroslav Spacek was one of a few experienced defencemen called upon to lead the team. Along with Hal Gill, Spacek filled in admirably and led the Habs to the playoffs. In 74 games, Spacek scored 3 goals and 18 assists, with 50 penalty minutes.
On May 10, 2010 in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Seminals, Spacek scored his first goal in 51 games against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
