  • Professional hockey player Jaroslav Modry who recently retired from the NHL to play in his home country, the Czech Republic.

Drafted by the New Jersey Devils during the ninth round of the NHL entry draft in 1990, Modry remained in his home country, the Czech Republic, for two years before moving to the United States. He spent the 1992-1993 season with the Devils' American Hockey League affiliate, then played 41 NHL games in 1993-1994.

During the 1995 off-season, Modry was traded to the Los Angeles Kings and spent the next four years bouncing back and forth between the NHL and minor league. By 2000, Mobry had developed into a reliable NHL defenseman and became a regular member of the Kings' lineup for the next five years.

A free agent, Mobry signed with the Atlanta Thrashers shortly before the 2005-2006 season and was traded to the Dallas Stars the following year. Partway through the 2006-2007 season, Mobry was traded back to the Los Angeles Kings, where he remained for another year before he was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in February of 2008.
