Japan held elections for it's upper legislative house, the House of Councillors, on July 29, 2007. The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) lost its majority control to the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ). The DPJ's landslide victories won it seats that had historically been controlled by the LDP.
