On September 13, 2009, Janet Jackson kicked off the 2009 MTV Music Video Awards show with a special tribute performance to her late brother Michael Jackson. Career
In 1974, she joined them and quickly stood out, catching the media and critic's attention. Her self-titled debut solo album was released in 1982, achieving moderate success. Four years later, she changed producers and released some of her most popular hits such as "Rhythm Nation," "Nasty," "What Have You Done for Me Lately" and "The Pleasure Principle." Jackson was involved in a controversy when a "wardrobe malfunction" caused her to briefly expose her breast on live television during the half-time show of Super Bowl XXXVIII when performing with Justin Timberlake.
