    On December 15, 2008, Moyer signed a two-year contract with the Phillies. the deal is believed to be worth $13 million dollars. At the time of the signing Moyer was 46 years old. After the signing Moyer stated, I feel based off of last season, the security of a two-year contract pushes and drives me. In my estimation, I don't think the negotiations dragged on. Both sides had a stance which they believed to be right. Things moved along smoothly and it's all about timing.     Jamie Moyer was born in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, on November 18, 1962. He would attend Souderton Area High School in Pennsylvania, then Saint Joseph's University, where he would develop into a major league caliber pitcher.Baseball-Reference.com: Jamie Moyer
  • Pro Career

    Moyer would be drafted in the sixth round of the 1994 Major League Baseball draft. He would make his major league debut on June 16, 1986 with the Chicago Cubs. In his first season he would compile a record of 7-4. He would spend the next several seasons with the club before he would be traded to the Texas Rangers with Drew Hall and Rafael Palmeiro for Mitch Williams, Paul Kilgus, Steve Wilson, Curtis Wilkerson, Luis Benitez and Pablo Delgado. He would be released by the Rangers in 1990. He would spend time with various teams including the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox and in 1996 the Seattle Mariners. In Seattle, he would enjoy his best years. In 2001, he would win twenty games for the Mariners, and in 2003 he would be elected to his firs All-Star team. That same year he would also win the Roberto Clemente Award, the Lou Gehrig Award and the Hutch Award. In 2005, he would become Seattle's all-time leader in wins.   • 2008 World Series

    In 2008, Moyer was the starting pitcher for the Phillies in Game 3 of the 2008 World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays. It was Moyer's first appearance ever in the Fall Classic. Moyer pitched 6 and 1/3 innings. Although he didn't get the decision, the Phillies won the game 5-4.
