Jamie Leigh Jones

Jamie Leigh Jones claimed that she was drugged and then gang-raped by Halliburton/KBR coworkers in Iraq in July of 2005 being rescued by her home state Congressman. After the government failed to launch a criminal investigation, Jones filed a lawsuit against Halliburton and KBR in May of 2007. In response to Jones' lawsuit, KBR claimed that it was part of her contract that any charges brought against the company would be decided by private arbitration and not a judge and jury. A judge ruled in May of 2008 that Jones' case could be heard in open court. KBR said that it may appeal the decision. ABC News: Halliburton Rape Claim Goes to Court (May 12, 2008)

In recent news it has been announced that as of March 24, 2010 KBR and Halliburton have pulled its petition of appeal to the US Supreme Court in doing so it will allow the case to go to trial. They had reportedly been fighting to keep it out of the court system, because of a clause in the employee contract which states that all issues of this kind must be determined by means of the KBR’s own binding arbitration process. All this comes five years after the alleged rape and imprisonment of Jamie Leigh Jones.

It is also reported that KBR has said that Jones like others that are raped were asking for it since she has some drinks and good conversation with the man in question. They also report that since she did not report the incident till later in the day that it is impossible that she was raped at all, even though medical reports prove there were tears to the vaginal and anal areas, ruptured breast implants, bruising, bleeding, and torn pectoral muscles. The rape kit that had been performed has reportedly gone missing.http://www.thenation.com/doc/20100412/houpperthttp://jezebel.com/5505484/kbr-says-jamie-leigh-jones-was-asking-for-it?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+jezebel%2Ffull+%28Jezebel%29
