Jamey Johnson was born in July, 1975 in Enterprise, Alabama. Johnson is an ex-Marine turned country music singer-songwriter.
Johnson self-released his debut album in 2002; this was entitled "They call me Country". This failed to chart as an album and failed to provide any hit singles.
Johnson made it onto the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts with his debut hit single "The Dollar" in 2006 on BNA Records, this reached number 14 in the US Country Singles Charts. This track was off the album of the same name "The Dollar" which reached number 20 in the US Country album charts.
Johnson was dropped by BNA Records in 2008 and signed for Mercury Nashville Records the same year. Johnson recorded his second album "That Lonesome Song" on this new label. At its peak this album reached number 6 in the US Country album Charts. The album features the hit song "In Color", this reached number 9 in the US Country charts. The song also received two awards for "Song of The Year" and "Record of the Year" at the Country Music Awards in 2009. Off the same album the track "High Cost of Living" also reached number 34 in the US Country charts.
Johnson's third album is scheduled to be released in 2010. The album will be entitled "The Guitar Song". The track "My Way to You" reached number 52 in the US Country Charts and will feature on this album.
