James Taylor is musician from Boston, Massachusetts who rose to fame as part of the confessional singer-songwriter movement of the early 1970s along with fellow artists such as Jackson Browne, Cat Stevens and Joni Mitchell. Browne is often considered to be one of the quintessential singer-songwriters of his generation, having enjoyed three decades of success as a singer and performer. Taylor continues to write, record and perform and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.
Taylor continues to perform in many venues big and small across North America. He also appeared at the 2010 Winter Classic at Fenway Park in Boston to sing the national anthem before the Flyers-Bruins outdoor game. In March 2010, he performed an acoustic version of the Beatles song In My Life at the 2010 Academy Awards as part of their 'In Memoriam' tribute to film entertainment personnel that had died in the previous 12 months.
